Groups on the Rail Trail / Accommodation

The Crow’s Nest is a great place to stay on the Rail Trail. And we have enough room for bigger groups!

Like the group a couple of days ago who enjoyed the stay in the Crow’s Nest and had a nice dinner in the

Oturehua Tavern  just across the road.

Accommodation on the Rail Trail

My last two month now.. March and April and than back to Christchurch.

Time is running fast. And also the bookings filling up. Easter is pretty full,

but we do have still heaps of beds available in March and April.

So if you want to do the Rail Trail and spend a night at my place,

Rail Trail Accommodation

With February nearly over the saison starts again

and a busy march is coming.

If you gonna do the rail trail in march and still looking for accommodation,

Just had a group of 6 ladies stayed in the Crow’s Nest.

They had a awesome time here!

On the Rail Trail

A lot happened in and around Oturehua.

We had a old Airplane here for a day and a lot of people took the chance to see Central Otago from the sky.

And the old Hays Engineering place had a big open day and a garage sale.

If you doing the rail trail you should stop at the Hays Engineering place and have a look around.

It cost you only $7 and is worth seeing!!!

Best time to do the Rail Trail

If you planning on doing the rail trail,

why not in February?!

It looks like the Rail Trail gets quiet in this month…

So you get good accommodation on the trail

and can have a great time on your bicycle.

Don’t forget to book a night in the Crow’s Nest in Oturehua.

Great accommodation and good food in the Tavern just across the road!Oturehua

Rail Trail Accommodation

It has been quite interesting over the last few weeks with all the amazing people doing the rail trail.

It equally interesting how some days are busier than others, for example, you would think that weekends are busy but some weekends we have had no customers at all and the Rail Trail is very quiet.  Then, for no apparent reason Tuesdays are our busiest night.  This could be because we are positioned at the second night stop of people are doing it over three or four days.

Now however the phone and e-mail is going non-stop as more and more people enquire about accommodation.  We suggest you make your bookings sooner rather than later as we had one situation where someone enquired about space and when they called back two hours later to confirm it had already gone.

You can either use the various companies servicing the Rail Trail or contact us directly.  We still have plenty of space available even though the recent wind and rain has not put people off.

And the HOT TUB gets used more and more:

Kiwitub perfect after a cycle enough space for 5 people

Motorbikes at the Crow’s Nest

We had some BMWs and also a Harley
