Clean water hot tub, no chemicals,
no-one else has been in the water.
that could be you sitting in there…
Yes, now we have a hot tub! Come and stay in the Crow’s Nest
and relax after a long day cycling in a hot tub!
The only one in Oturehua!

A group of 5 girls were walking the Rail Trail as a part
of “Duke of Edenburgh” or so…
Anyway, they stayed 2 nights at the Crow’s Nest and they had a good time!
The Oturehua Tavern is just across the road from the Crow’s Nest. Liz and Grahame are the new owner. Liz is cooking very nice english pub food and Grahame is a star behind the bar. They have got also a good Take Away Menu. Kitchen closed at 9 pm.
I meet more and more German people who are doing the rail trail. Cool!! It was nice talking in German again.. But funny: sometimes I have to think about what the German word is… That’s happen when you live over 2 years in New Zealand. You start dreaming and thinking in English. Even if it’s not perfect..
If you planing to do the Rail Trail in Central Otago, why not in January or March? In this time the Rail Trail is not so busy and the Crow’s Nest has still a lot of available beds for you! So book now with us and stay in one of the most beautiful places on the Rail Trail with a awesome view!
Not far from Oturehua is the Idaburn Dam.
It’s a nice place to chill out and also for fishing.
Rain and sunshine, regardless of the weather, you will find cyclists on the rail trail. I had a group of 8 people from Christchurch staying with me last night. Really nice group of people. They had an awesome dinner at the Tavern and enjoyed staying in the Crow’s Nest!
Thanks for being my guests!!
Now I did a bit of the Otago Central Rail Trail. It was just from Oturehua to Wedderburn and back again.
Sun was out and we took our little dog Ben with us.. Sorry, had no idea that dogs are not allowed on the rail trail… Now I know.
Anyway, we had a great time out there and can’t wait to do more of the rail trail. But be careful in the moment, there are many magpies attacking you because its breeding season and I was wearing Red, so don’t wear Red.
The winter is back. The last days it was getting colder. Raining and over night snow up in the mountains.
Not a lot of cyclists on the rail trail. And the people who where tough enough to cycle it were a bit freezing.
The view along the trail is nice. You can see the mountains with snow on.
Fingers cross that the weather gets better soon!
This is Ben.
Our 11 year old dog. He loves balls and is a very nice dog!
